25 Weeks

My 24-week appointment went so well last week. I'm on track with my weight gain, blood pressure, & I had the chance to listen to the baby's heartbeat for a few moments. It never gets old. I also scheduled our birthing & breastfeeding classes &, luckily for Josh, we have the option to take a 1-day Saturday birthing class instead of a 6-week night class (his schedule is super hectic right now). I'll be taking the breastfeeding class solo. I know Josh appreciates that.

It's so hard to believe that in three weeks I'll take my glucose test & I'll be in my third trimester, transitioning from 4-week appointments to 2-week appointments from there on out. Two months from now I'll be taking birthing classes. Three months from now he'll be here.

As I walked into church Sunday morning, a friend wished me a Happy Mother's Day. Without thinking, I almost wished it back (like saying Good Morning), but I caught myself just as it hit me that she said it because I am, in fact, pregnant. Each mama & mama-to-be received a delicious cinnamon roll from Bliss Old Market Bakery after the service. Oh my goodness, mine did not last long. And our friend Danny designed the pretty gift tag you see in the photo.

How far along? 25 weeks (only 102 days until his due date)
Maternity clothes?  I finally found a midwest chain -- Gordmans -- in Council Bluffs, Iowa, that boasts a healthy collection of maternity clothes from Motherhood Maternity. I bought a few new tank tops & a pair of maternity shorts (super comfy!). Good timing, too, because it reached 100 degrees in Omaha yesterday!
Stretch marks? Nada
Sleep? Sleep has been great this week. Fewer trips to the bathroom, zero leg cramps, & I only woke up once or twice (as opposed to the usual 6 times) a night to turn from side-to-side.
Best moment(s) this week... I had three dates with friends from church, one of which was manicure/pedicure day with another expectant mama-to-be (due next week!) to get our nails done. It was so nice to talk about the baby, pregnancy, & purchases with a lady my age!
Miss anything? I miss exerting minimal effort when getting off the couch & standing up from a crouched position. I've been walking daily & starting to work out regularly, which has definitely helped alleviate my side stitches & increase my endurance.
Movement? Yes! Lately Baby Everhart has been sticking out a hand or a foot & just leaving it hang out there against my belly. When I gently push against him, he punches or kicks back. It's hilarious!
Emotions? Happy with a side of weepy. When I was in Gordmans, I noticed a little boy (maybe 6 years old) crying between the clothing racks & running in circles frantically. He had lost his parents. I walked up to him & asked if he'd like me to help him find them. Through tears he nodded & reached out his little hand to me as I led him out from the clothes to the aisle where his dad met up with us immediately. Pregnancy hormones definitely took over at that point because it took everything in me to fight back tears -- tears of empathy for the scared boy then tears of happiness when I saw relief wash over him the moment he spotted his dad. Four days have passed & that experience still affects me in a major way.
Morning sickness? Nope
Food cravings? I'm still on a banana kick & I gave in to downing a root beer (or two) with pizza on our double-date night.
Food aversions? Not really. I'm a little hesitant to eat acidic fruits late in the day for fear of heartburn.
Looking forward to... having our crib & changing dresser delivered this week for our nursery!
